FOMO in trading: why you chase and how to stop
FOMO is the urge to jump into a move because it's already going without you. The entry is late, the stop is wide and the reward is small. It's one of the most common mistakes in any trading journal.
How to spot a FOMO trade
- You enter after a big candle has already moved.
- Your stop has to be much wider than usual.
- Your risk-reward is below 1:1.
- You couldn't name the setup before you entered.
How to stop chasing
- Only enter at levels you marked before the session.
- If you missed it, write 'missed' in your notes. Missing a trade costs nothing.
- Require a minimum 1:2 risk-reward for every entry.
- Tag FOMO trades honestly and review their total every Friday.
There's always another trade
The market gives the same setups again and again. A journal full of logged A+ setups proves it, and that's what makes patience feel safe.
