How to review your trades: a 15-minute weekly routine
Logging trades is half the job. The improvement comes from the review, and it doesn't need to take an hour. Here's a 15-minute routine you can do every Friday.
The 15-minute weekly review
- Minutes 1–3: P&L, win rate, average R and whether you stayed inside your daily loss limit.
- Minutes 4–6: your best setup and your worst setup this week.
- Minutes 7–9: your costliest mistake, in dollars.
- Minutes 10–12: did you win more when you followed every rule?
- Minutes 13–15: pick one rule to focus on next week, and write it down.
Review in R, not just dollars
R (result ÷ risk) makes weeks with different sizes comparable. A +6R week at small size is a better week than +$500 that came from one oversized trade.
Let the journal do the maths
TradeIQ builds this review for you every week: best setup, costliest mistake, best session, goal progress and a Friday email recap, plus an AI summary on Pro.
